American author Thomas Wolfe (1900-1938) was a native of Asheville (NC).
His use of language and unique literary style elevated his life to legendary status through his four autobiographical novels. His first novel, "Look Homeward, Angel", was published in 1929, nine years before his death.
Much of this novel takes place in the boarding house run by Wolfe's mother, which is pictured above.
